Bitdeer Technologies Group (NASDAQ: BTDR) is accelerating its ASIC development and self-mining expansion, aiming for 40 EH/s by Q4 2025. According to Chief Business Officer Matt Kong, Bitdeer has prioritized proprietary ASIC innovation, enhancing competitiveness and vertical integration. The company’s SEALMINER A1 and A2 units will drive rapid deployment, cost efficiency, and supply chain improvements. Bitdeer’s ASIC commercialization has gained strong market traction, with 7 EH/s of SEALMINER A2s already oversubscribed. Additionally, the company is advancing its third and fourth-generation ASIC chips, targeting the highest energy efficiency in the market. With global power capacity exceeding 2.6 GW, including a recent Alberta acquisition, Bitdeer is poised for further growth in Bitcoin mining and HPC/AI data center operations. The company is forming strategic partnerships to address the rising demand for AI infrastructure.

Russia’s ban on Bitcoin mining has significantly decreased power consumption in Siberia, reducing the load on the regional power grid by over 300 MW. According to the Ministry of Energy, these measures have helped prevent outages and energy rationing, particularly in areas with extreme winter temperatures. Officials are now considering a national registry for cryptocurrency mining equipment to monitor and regulate mining activities. Despite initial controversy, the ban is showing positive results in stabilizing Siberia’s outdated energy infrastructure.

MARA Holdings has acquired a wind farm in Hansford County, Texas, to power its Bitcoin mining operations with renewable energy. The facility provides 240 MW of interconnection capacity and 114 MW of wind power, increasing MARA’s total generating capacity to 136 MW. The company plans to integrate the wind energy into its mining operations to reduce production costs and extend the life of older ASIC miners. This move aligns with MARA’s shift towards a vertically integrated, asset-heavy model, ensuring long-term cost efficiency and sustainability in Bitcoin mining.

Russian electricity provider Rosseti suffered $14 million in losses in 2024 due to illegal crypto-mining activities, with the most severe cases in the North Caucasus, Novosibirsk, and the Volga Region. Authorities uncovered 130 unlicensed mining operations that overloaded power grids, causing voltage drops in residential areas. Illegal mining farms were found in warehouses, underground parking lots, and rented containers. One case in Novosibirsk involved 3,200 mining rigs, resulting in $2.1 million in damages. Criminal investigations are ongoing.

Auradine’s latest Bitcoin mining hardware, the AT2880, has demonstrated efficiency levels comparable to industry leader. According to mining service provider BitsBeTrippin’, tests showed an efficiency of 17 J/TH after two days of operation. One unit, running at 222 TH/s, consumed 3,900 watts with a 17.5 J/TH efficiency, while another operated at 150 TH/s, achieving 16.8 J/TH with 2,500 watts. The U.S.-designed ASIC miner is seen as a viable competitor to Chinese mining hardware.
